Your First Day

We want your first day at CSL to be as enjoyable and informative as possible. Here is what you can expect, so relax and look forward to the start of your amazing experience.

Induction

We will inform you of how the school works, and how you can make the most of your time with us. Our induction includes the following:

• Welcome Meeting
• Tour of the School
• Introduction to CSL and our Services
• Life in Swansea  (including information about local banks, registering with the police and where to buy lunch)
• Language Placement Test

The Placement Test

We will ask you to complete the first part of a placement test before you come to the UK, so that we will know your level. When you arrive at CSL you will do the second part of our placement test on your first morning. This includes a short oral interview with our Director of Studies, so that we can find out about you and your spoken level. We will also ask you to complete a short written task which helps us to get a good understanding of your writing. We then use all the information we have to place you in the right class to make sure your English improves as quickly as possible.

Placement for Exam Preparation / IELTS  and International Foundation Programme Students

It is important that you are at the right level to join our IELTS 25 and International Foundation Programmes in Business and IT. We use the following information to make sure that you are able to join these courses:

• The placement test you do before you leave
• Any information you send us as part of your application (for example the results of any English language tests)
• The placement test you complete on your first day

If your placement test results are below the minimum entry requirements for your chosen course, we reserve the right to place you in a different group until you are ready to join the course for which you originally applied.

If your level is too low to join IELTS 25, we will place you in Intensive English 25 until you are ready to join an IELTS 25 group. If your level is too low to join your chosen International Foundation Programme, we will place you in Intensive English 25 until you are ready to join the IFP.
