How to apply

What You Need to Do Before You Come to School

How to apply for your course

To apply to become a student of the City School of Languages, we will need the following from you:

  • A completed application form - you can apply online by booking through the courses section and selecting the course of your choice
  • A copy of your passport or identity card

Alternatively, you can apply through a trusted educational agency or representative. Please ensure that they have a valid certificate of representation from CSL. If you are unsure, please contact us.

If you have not read the terms and conditions by this point, then please do so carefully.

If you are unsure if you require a visa, please read our visa guidance page.

Once you have completed and submitted the above documents, our Student Support Officer will process your application for you.

If your application is successful, an Offer Letter will be issued to you - please read this letter carefully.

If you accept the terms of the Offer, you will need to arrange payment of the course.

How to pay for your course

If you are paying for your fees privately, we accept payments by bank transfer, card or cash. Please refer to your Offer Letter or contact us for payment terms.

If you are a sponsored student, during the application process you must provide a letter from your sponsor addressed to City School of Languages stating that they will be financially responsible for you. We must also receive your financial guarantee within the first two weeks of your course. If not, you will have to pay for your tuition fees yourself.

Take our online placement test

In order to place you in the right level class, please complete our online placement test before you leave home. Once you have completed the test, we can then inform you of your level before you arrive. If you can’t do the online placement test, our support staff will give you a placement test to sit on your first day.

Your first day

On your first day at CSL, you will need to do the following:

  • Bring the original of your passport/identity card and visa (if applicable)
  • Sign and date an enrolment form
  • Complete our placement test, including an interview with the Vice-Principal or Senior Teacher
