Some of the people you will meet at CSL

Principal

Ismara Antunes: Principal

Ismara holds a Masters degree in Financial Management from Middlesex University, and a National Vocational Qualification in Accounting at Levels 2 and 3 from C.I.T.E Associates in London. In addition to these, she has a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences. Ismara has 18 years of professional experience in the finance industry having worked as a Finance Officer, Primary Care Audit Supervisor and General Director of a company.

Ismara founded City School of Languages in 2006, and as the Principal of the school, has been assuring leadership for the staff and support for the students ever since. The school has been developing at a rapid pace, and in three years achieved accreditation from the British Council and ABLS, as well as becoming licensed by the UKBA to sponsor Tier 4 students.

 

Student Services

 

Victoria Jones: Welfare and Accomodation Officer

Victoria has a degree in Journalism from John Moores University in Liverpool. After graduating in 2000, she spent eight years teaching English in Japan, Russia, China and Poland. She also spent a year working as a tour guide in Central and Eastern Europe.

Victoria is a qualified reflexologist. She loves music, plays the piano and sings.

 

 

Cristina Costa: Finance Officer

Cristina started her career as an Early Childhood teacher in her native Portugal. She has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK, and holds an MSc Econ in Early Childhood from the University of Wales, Swansea.

Cristina speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish. She enjoys travelling and making her own jewellery. 

 

 

Martyn Sullivan: Information Officer

Martyn holds a BA in English and an MA in Gender, Culture and Identity from the University of Wales, Swansea. Prior to working at CSL, he spent two years working as a social researcher, specialising in minority and hard to reach groups.

Martyn enjoys camping, reading and listening to music.

 

 

 

Eleri Davies: Receptionist

Eleri graduated in 2009 with a BA in Media Studies from Swansea University. She is from Carmarthenshire, and is bi-lingual in Welsh and English. In her free time Eleri enjoys exercising, watching movies and travelling. She says the favourite part of her job is meeting and working with people from different countries and cultures. She started working with CSL in October 2010. 

 


 

Teachers

Helen Kenna: EFL Teacher

Helen possesses a BA and a Masters degree in Architectural Glass. She also has a PGCE in Art and Design and a CELTA qualification, in which she gained a distinction, from the University of Wales, Swansea. She also completed a TEFL course at the British Council in Athens in 1988.

Helen has over 18 years experience teaching English as a foreign language, including 13 years in Greece, where she was an examiner for the Panhellenic Association of Language School Owners (PALSO). Since returning to Britain, Helen has continued teaching EFL. During summer periods she has taught at the East London University, Barkling and more recently, in 2008, at Swansea Metropolitan University. Besides teaching English, she also teaches Art & Design part-time.

Helen enjoys Art, glass-work and travelling. She also says she would study at CSL herself because the staff are experienced, helpful, enjoy what they do and are dedicated to student’s needs. On top of this, the staff are friendly and cheerful which creates a happy learning environment.

Emma Williams: EFL Teacher.

Emma holds a BA in Modern Languages and a Masters degree in Translation. Since completing a TEFLA qualification at the University of Wales, Swansea, in 1991, Emma has gained over 18 years' experience of teaching English as a foreign language. She has taught students of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds both in this country (London and Swansea) and abroad (Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Russia).

The pleasure of the job for Emma is getting to know people from diverse cultures. She has always enjoyed learning new languages herself. Emma says she enjoys teaching English in the supportive and friendly atmosphere of CSL.

Emma’s interests are reading, cinema and travel.

 

Tracey Hinton: EFL Teacher

Tracey has a BA in Russian Studies from the University of Essex, and a CELTA from Swansea University. Tracey has studied and lived in Russia and France, and speaks Russian as well as a little French and Spanish. Tracey loves reading -she's a member of two book groups and she also enjoys watching films, running, music, cooking, swimming and cycling. Tracey describes herself as a typical Welsh woman, "small, cheerful and full of songs". She began teaching at CSL in October 2010

 

Lindsey Watkins: EFL Teacher 

Lindsey holds a BA in Russian and Spanish from Swansea University as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Translation and Language Technology. Lindsey spent two years in Mexico, Russia and Spain studying and teaching and has travelled extensively. In her free time, Lindsey enjoys reading, swimming and yoga. She started teaching at CSL in April 2009, she completed her CELTA course in July 2010 -attaining the highest mark of all students on her course.

 

Richard Bennett: EFL Teacher

Richard has a BA in Philosophy from Liverpool University and a CELTA qualification gained in Madrid. Richard spent 18 months teaching in Spain and has travelled extensively.  He enjoys the cinema, music and travelling.  Richard joined the CSL teaching team September 2010
