Proof of Means
How to prove you can pay for your course
If you are applying for a General Student Visa, you must be able to show evidence when you apply for your visa that you have enough money to pay for your course fees and to live while you are in the UK. This will be £600.00 GBP for each calendar month of your studies, up to a maximum of 9 months. If your course at CSL lasts more than nine months, this will be the first year of fees and £5,400 to cover the living costs of your first nine months in the United Kingdom.
You can prove you have the money if you have:
- Cash in an account in your name (this includes joint accounts with your name). You must have this money in your account for 28 days before you apply for your visa
Or
- A loan in your name
Or
- Official financial or government sponsorship.
If applying for a General Student Visa through City School of Languages, you will normally be required to pay at least half the course fees in advance, a £100 enrolment fee and a £150 deposit. The £150 deposit will either be deducted from your fees or reimbursed on your first day of studies.
If you are sponsored by your government, you must provide us with documentary evidence of your sponsorship. This must be in the form of a letter of confirmation. The letter should be on official letter-headed paper or stationery of your official financial sponsor. It must also have the official stamp of that organisation on it. In addition, you need to pay the deposit of £150.
